Lynne Cannoy’s work has been acclaimed as “superbly evocative.”
Her highly stylized and masterfully rendered illustrations have graced
books and magazines, institutional and corporate communications,
advertising campaigns, murals, posters, packaging, signage and multi-
media, garnering numerous citations and awards. Her first illustrated
children’s book, The Young Reader’s Shakespeare: Macbeth, was
hailed as “capturing all the drama of Shakespeare’s classic play.”
Lynne’s carefully designed images are a balance of concept and
craftsmanship. Her preliminary drawings explore ways in which
elements can most effectively and dramatically share limited space.
Here the message is defined, its perspectives are examined and its
objective is focused. As compositions evolve, subjects are frequently
deconstructed and intermingle with their environment, shaping and
animating each other. Her paintings articulate themes on multiple
levels by eliciting an interplay of perception and metaphor.
Lynne Cannoy graduated summa cum laude from Virginia
Commonwealth University with a BFA in Communication Arts &
Design. She worked as a graphic designer and art director
before pursuing illustration as a primary career focus. This diverse
experience has served her in bringing scope to the objectives of her
commissioned work. Lynne is a member of the Pittsburgh Society
of Illustrators.
